Mount Google Drive

Phone is rooted, that's not an issue.

Willing to edit around in files, want to mount it so that I can use the storage in all apps.

Otherwise, if there's a rock solid way to stream from Google Drive (using MX Player, preferably), I'll be happy with that too.

It is not to mount, but helps somehow (including playing music): some file explorers, like the good X-Plore. You can have cloud storage as a main folder in it (not mount to other apps) and it even has a player in it.

If privacy, encryption is important to you, then also check the app EDS. It can mount folders and cloud (unfortunately only Dropbox) system wide - just like you're requesting - with an encryption layer (EncFS, Veracrypt,.....standards). This way the cloud provider can not spy on you and also if you loose your device the encrypted folder/SD data can not be used.

If you find a mount solution to gdrive and / or other cloud storages please let me know!

I know about them, but I like tinkering around, and I'm hopeful I'll manage to find a solution.

And please let me know 😉

Almost got it working! Only thing left is how to simplify and automate the process. I'll write up a guide at some point. Only issue is where to post it.

Thanks for feedback!

If you don't have a blog, website,.... As it probably will be a text only guide, you can use simple pastebin.com and spread the (custom/shortened) link.

Or for a better design can use free and no ads github.io

Not sure what you are asking.

Are you wondering if there is a way to connect your phone directly to your Google drive such that it looks like another storage area like an microSD card? Then you want apps to be installed on the Google drive but your phone would think it is an internal drive? This will result in crashes and significant performance hit if so.

Or are you wanting to keep your drive in sync with your phone in realtime?

He would seem to be asking for a means to mount Google Drive as storage, i.e. not to install apps to, but to stream music from and store data to as an internal drive.

Music stores remotely is acceptable and Google play music can do that for free. I would recommend syncing rather then streaming in most cases.

Thank you for the completely irrelevant suggestion.

Well aren't you full of positive criticism.

Ding ding ding!

I think I'll just use GDrive Ocamlfuse through a chroot.

If you want to stream video from Google Drive, you can use BubbleUPnP to see the videos on Drive and stream to your device using MX Player.

Linkme: BubbleUPnP.
