Trying to make a Note 4 usable again. [Need advice]

Hello, the phone works fine for a while, then it starts stuttering and once the screen goes black, I can't boot it back up right away.

Putting it in the freezer for 20 minutes pulls off the trick, but only for a while before it starts malfunctioning again.

factory resetting, using Wake Lock app and safe mode haven't helped at all.

I have considered installing a custom rom, but the current state of the phone doesn't allow my pc to recognize the phone in fastboot mode, so I can't even unlock the bootloader. Plus I have never gone through this procedure on a Samsung device, so I'd rather be sure it would eventually work out before even attempting.

At this point I'd only assume it's a hardware problem; would you advise replacing the battery? even though this seems the only reasonable solution, I have read of people with issues similar to mine who have changed their battery and still have the same problems.

Thank you in advance for the help :)

Please see here to sign up for a class action lawsuit against Samsung for this issue. This is a common enough issue for a flagship phone and Samsung should be held responsible. The more people that sign up for this the more likely it will be successful. LG recently paid out on a similar lawsuit that paid $400 or the choice of a new $700 device to those that had signed up.

I'd rather not go through legal ways, especially since I am not a US citizen, thank you for your time though.

I contacted them. Hopefully, something comes of it. I don't want to pay $900 dollars for a phone I don't want, and I am not sure it is a good idea to buy another Note 4, if they all have this issue. Flashing the phone with odin was the only way I could get out of the boot loop, and it seemed like it ran very fast before I updated, so I might flash it again and run it on the stock OS.
