I'll admit, I picked the Moors not because I hate Spain but because they're the one non-European civ that colonized Europe. It helps balancing things out for all the European colonialists we'll probably get - like Australia, NZ or the USA.
I must say that so far the picks are really satisfying. Moors aside, pretty much all picks are more or less "natives".
they're the one non-European civ that colonized Europe.
Something something Carthage.
Carthage invaded, but did not colonize.
I think the Ottomans would have been a better pick - they conquered part of the Balkans.
Didn't Carthage found cities in Iberia? Carthago Nova and the like?
Ah, true, they did before Rome kicked them out.
However, Carthage was a colonist civ by itself, they were Phenicians, not Africans.
Man, you guys are bringing to much politics and muh history to the sub that it's not even fun anymore.
Sure. But the CBR is a fantasy. If it ends up being once again European dudes making the rest of the world miserable, it's actually closer from actual history.
Adding diversity and civs that history did not treat kindly is a way to avoid that.
And then, there’s Brazil.
Everybody wants to rule the world.
Ahh, always love a civilizationball, hope we get a resurgence of them with CBRX starting up, thanks for this.
I've noticed that Spain has a nasty habit of ALMOST making it to a CBR...
I wanted Spain under Phillip II to make it... Im yet to recover.
