Liberal Sociopathy and Imperialistic Modernity.

I recently had the joy of reading a completely neurotic rant of a supposed game review for a cute little indie game about cartoon animals.

Now the author's raving madness aside, the article conjured up memories of an article written by an equally smug cuckservative wherein he sneered that White Working Class Communities deserved to die because they failed at properly appeasing his real God: blatant economic interests.

These articles are a symptom of a kind of Imperialistic Modernity, as I've deemed it. Whereas in most cases Modernity infests a nation like a disease, in its more imperial form it will not rest until it destroys anything and everything unlike itself; this can be found in Leftists frequent disgust and indeed, loathing of these poor communities dotting America whilst simultaneously kissing up to any brown person it sees: white working class communities represent everything that modernity despises, they're echoes of an America that was and that had meaning, they don't exist in confusing cities constantly expanding and growing and growing, but places firmly rooted with buildings generally older than the people there.

Modernity thusly manifests in the nation itself, then once its infested enough people, they turn against any remnant of the nation: they loathe smalltown America for its sense of Americanness and sense of God, they loathe it because it's not the brown cities that they call "vibrantly diverse", it's not the nihilism of Black America which manifests in a mindless destruction of all and emotional rampages throughout the urban landscape, it's an echo of an America that was, and so it must be destroyed before anyone imagines that America can be anything other than the importer of the world's garbage.

What this also represents is why the far-right must immediately ally itself with and try to assist "small town America"; these are the forgotten people of the nation, abandoned by the globalized world and their way of life under attack by faggy urbanites. The fact is that the White Working Class can find no ally in anything except White identarian movements: leftists of all stripes want to essentially genocide these people and replace them with a bunch of imported browns, and loathe them because they don't hold some "alphabet soup" marches wherein a bunch of freaks strip nude and start fucking in public under rainbow flags and cries of "So brave!" by the left. Liberals (especially those in so-called "conservative" societies) loathe them because "small towns" are antithetical to the new economic system, wherein cities suck up the prosperity of the rest of the nation like a leach, jobs based more and more around service rather than manufacturing, they're economic dead weight not worth producing in and not capable of largescale production of cash crops, so utterly worthless to the GDP fearing liberal. Milquetoast conservatives similarly will do nothing, instead tut-tutting about their supposed "moral failings" but in reality hating these small communities along similar lines as the leftists: because they're the "folksy" kind of conservatism that embarrasses them, rather than the "high minded" William F. Buckley Jr. type which can be reduced to a highly educated elite swirling around New England and yearning for the America that was.

Thus, the only salvation for these towns can be found in far right ideology, as they're the only ones who aren't "embarrassed" by them, nor actively working towards their destruction.

I agree that rural America has essentially been colonized by the city--more specifically, by capital that is concentrated in cities. The rural petty bourgeois have been replaced by national chains like Walmart and Wendys which siphon the surplus value produced by rural labor forces into the urban centers. The city is then increasingly imposing its "liberal culture" on the countryside in a sort of textbook Gramscian process of "cultural hegemony" which has been met by a far-right reaction.

If that is your diagnosis of the problem, then it is incongruous with your proposed solution, which is seems to be to lash out at the culture. The far right has it backwards. Culture is downstream from the relations of production. Modernity is a consequence of capitalist relations of production. The culture of rural communities is declining because they've lost control of the means of production and therefore any semblance of self-determination, not because of gay pride parades or because of brown people who hate America or whatever.

Exactly, it's always cringeworthy when far-rightists always talk about this and because of the fear of ever even considering Capital to be the perpetrator, they make up a jewish/leftist boogeyman that has no motivation or drive other than being non-sensically antagonistic.

What turned you from NatSynd/Strasserism to full on communism? Do you now believe that the worker's interests can only be held up if capital itself is abolished instead of occupational representation or what?

Not just worker's interest, capitalism is inefficient and troublesome including to a nation's self-determination as a whole too.

1
MoprollemsOPLiteral Caliphate•

Economic relations does have some influence on culture, of that I don't deny--it's in part why I believe that companies that outsource manufacturing should just have their factories seized and given over to workers unions to run.

However a fatalistic view of the culture, wherein as long as the capitalist system exists, this is the culture that will result, is something I vehemently deny. "Lashing out" and attacking this useless, mindless, nihilistic-materialist culture is the first step to recovering from it.

1
IvankaTrump2020Worker ownership then worker management•

Since culture is the product of labor, and therefore requires a means of production itself, I don't see how there is any point to lashing out unless the goal is to reclaim control over the means of production.

Lashing out at--for example--urban ghettos is a waste of time, since black people living in poverty have limited control over the means of production. Hip-hop culture originated as a reaction of the black urban communities against the same liberal forces that have colonized the black ghetto and are now threatening to gentrify it out of existence. They are very much in the same position as rural white communities (no self-determination, limited political influence, families shattered by drug abuse, etc), and therefore have no bearing on rural self-determination, other than as a potential ally with a common enemy.

There's no "potential ally" in blacks because they don't give a damn about ideology.

Let me put it like this: race is a better hint as to who you vote for than your ideology. You can be a black man who thinks the government is too big, who looks down on gay marriage, who's against abortion, who wants to shrink the welfare state, and you'll still end up voting for Romney

Attempting to court Blacks is utterly pointless, they aren't allies, they're just there. These are people who essentially sold out their own liberators and started voting for the party that fought for their enslavement--contrary to the "muh southern strategy" myth--around the 1930s and haven't ever looked back. Groups of all stripes have tried to appeal to them, but the only ones that know how to truly make allies of Blacks are their old masters. Any attempts to "ally" with blacks will end in disaster because it isn't about a common cause or common suffering to them, they make their decisions almost entirely based on which side gives them the most shit followed by which side most other blacks seem to support.

Beyond even that their interests aren't aligned, blacks want those same rural whites to give up what little they have in the form of reparations, they see them as a checkbook and little else.

Since culture is the product of labor, and therefore requires a means of production itself, I don't see how there is any point to lashing out unless the goal is to reclaim control over the means of production.

Economic relations has an influence on culture, but culture is not solely a product of labor, it also comes from a peoples' environment and their history, not merely their form of labor and the division of that labor.

Really? Are you sure it isn't because of the party realignment that took place during FDR's tenure? The GOP post-1930s bared little resemblance to the party of Lincoln, and the Dems post-FDR bared little resemblance to the party of the antebellum. I don't see why that is surprising, I don't see how that has anything to do with the black community of the 21st century.

Any attempts to "ally" with blacks will end in disaster because it isn't about a common cause or common suffering to them, they make their decisions almost entirely based on which side gives them the most shit followed by which side most other blacks seem to support.

Because the black community tends to vote Democrat? Rural whites voted for Trump for the same reason. He promised them "the most shit"--he sold them a fantasy about the return of manufacturing jobs and promised to kick out all competition from immigrants. That's why people vote--to favor their own interests and the interests of people they care about. It's a stretch to assume that because people vote in their own interests, they can't ally. It seems even more of a stretch when their interests align.

Economic relations has an influence on culture, but culture is not solely a product of labor, it also comes from a peoples' environment and their history, not merely their form of labor and the division of that labor.

Regardless, without labor, culture wouldn't exist. Therefore, the creation of culture is largely controlled by those who have the power to control labor.

Define good.

The purpose that these communities strove for which was, in no small part, the continuation of segregation and nationalism was not a good person.

Define how that was bad, this isn't even going into how those who argued for segregation were inevitably proven right.

Why does something need to be "firmly rooted" for it to be good?

Never said that made it good, but being firmly rooted gives one attachments to the people and land around them and a thing to strive for beyond the self.

1
zzzztopportalNeolib/Soclib•

Define good.

The thing that brings about the most utility. Why is utility good?

  1. Happiness is self evidently good; self evidence alone cannot hold an entire argument but it seems on an intuitive level to be a good reason for action

  2. Conensus; everyone agrees that at least their own happiness is good

  3. Desire; the fact that happiness gives direct rise to the desire to get more of it suggests that it is a good reason to act

  4. Subjectivity; because happiness is a subjective feeling, the perceivers of it are the best equipped to describe it. Who are we to disagree with someone's evaluation of their own feelings? If someone says "my happiness is inherently good," the fact that they are the one perceiving it is good evidence for the truth of their statement.

Define how that was bad, this isn't even going into how those who argued for segregation were inevitably proven right.

I'm not going to even argue about the segregation thing. As for nationalism, it is irrational and immoral like all forms of non-universal morality; arbitrarily placing moral importance on someone in an in group is wrong.

Never said that made it good, but being firmly rooted gives one attachments to the people and land around them and a thing to strive for beyond the self.

Sure

2
MoprollemsOPLiteral Caliphate•

The thing that brings about the most utility. Why is utility good?

You haven't made any case, by what measure can you consider "feeling good" to be good? Sure it's a simple system, but you're not making a case that something makes you feel good, but rather that something is good because it makes you feel "good", there's no axiom behind it, it's simply sensory pleasure over all else.

I'm not going to even argue about the segregation thing.

Mostly because you can't, I've no doubt that you were taught your entire life that segregation was an evil that needed defeating but you never once heard he pro segregationist arguments, or if you did it was followed by immediate dismissal. Here's something to muse on: everything the segregationists said would happen were segregation to be removed, did, in fact, happen. You did see White neighborhoods and cities slide into poverty and crime, you did see blacks essentially undermine white political power--the fact that a few perpetually Democratic cities can swing ostensibly red states blue is testament to this--you didn't see any meaningful improvement in the material conditions of blacks, you didn't see an end to racism, and we've certainly not seen an end to social unrest.

Every single thing, every little point made by the segregationists has come to pass; the difference is when overcoming the idea it's the habit of progressives to first lie blatantly--"Oh that isn't EVER going to happen, you're deluded if you think it will!"--Then when they're assured enough that they're winning, admit that "Well it wouldn't even matter if it DID happen" and then finally claim with a degree of self-righteous moralizing that it's a good thing it happened anyways.

As for nationalism, it is irrational and immoral like all forms of non-universal morality; arbitrarily placing moral importance on someone in an in group is wrong.

On the contrary there's nothing irrational about it, the average human is only capable of forming meaningful relationships with about 150 people or so, this has been scientifically proven. Nationalism creates an underlying commonality that allows greater cooperation between greater swathes of people whilst still remaining somewhat functioning, the perfect balance between caring for no one, and caring for everyone (and thus not being able to apply special care to no one).

In fact arguments against nationalism almost always boil down to absurdity, a simple statement "Well it's wrong to think your nation is better than others". Why? Because some wars happened over it? By that logic does everytime a man say he's the best chef in the world, he run the risk of breaking into his neighbor's house, killing them, and annexing their kitchen?

2
zzzztopportalNeolib/Soclib•

I mean I think happiness is good in the same way water is wet. So, yes? I think I layed out my argument for why something making you feel good is a justification for seeking out that thing.

Mostly because you can't, I've no doubt that you were taught your entire life that segregation was an evil that needed defeating but you never once heard he pro segregationist arguments, or if you did it was followed by immediate dismissal. 1. The high crime areas (cities) have been mostly abandoned by whites. Very few white neighborhood have slid into poverty and crime, and those that did (the content of the OP) did so for different reasons

  2. Why is the undermining of white political power bad? As a democrat I'm inclined to believe it's good

  3. Desegregation of schools at least has undoubtedly helped black children

  4. Racism has definitely diminished; look at the number of people who believe interracial marriage is immoral now vs in 1965

Nationalism creates an underlying commonality that allows greater cooperation between greater swathes of people whilst still remaining somewhat functioning, the perfect balance between caring for no one, and caring for everyone (and thus not being able to apply special care to no one).

Ahh, but we can have cultural identity without banning immigrants.

It's important to note that these people are affected by a great deal of Oikophobia, possibly even "self-loathing", or rather loathing of the collective "self".

Let me put it like this, these people loathe Christianity because they claim its anti-women, its violent, etcetera, etcetera.

Yet they'll turn around and defend Islam, cry that it's a "religion of peace", that its "progressive" in spite of it evidently amplifying every supposed problem they have with Christianity.

Because the truth is, in spite of rejecting Christianity and "Whiteness", they still have some understanding of themselves as collectively belonging to it, and of Christianity as the White European's cultural inheritance. Thus they think it's well within their rights to try and destroy Christianity (as its their "property" and they wish to do away with it) whilst viewing Islam as something belonging to another person and thus don't wish to disrespect that person's property.

Everything, the nation, the faith, the race, are things they see as an inheritance they "unfortunately" have to share with Conservatives, and those Conservatives are--they're well aware--the only thing keeping them from throwing this inheritance into the garbage. They hate, truly, Christianity, Whites, and Western Nations, they actively want to see these things destroyed, and thus lash out in anger because while they want to just toss these things away, certain elements that they share a collective connection with are keeping the lid on the trashcan as it were.

Thus the hatred they have is the kind of personal hatred which can only be found and only grow in families, the amplified anger that can only be found in someone who hates the town they grew up in, their "stupid" family traditions, and lusts after the material world crafted for them by media but can only be found elsewhere.

In short, these people are our enemies and wont compromise.

Serious question - what would the far right bring to these people exactly? Which far right are we talking about, here?

3
MoprollemsOPLiteral Caliphate•

In terms of which "Far Right" I speak generally of the collection of Fascists, Reactionaries, and the occasional populist that makes up a sundry of right wing groups.

As for what they'd do, generally speaking reverse course on these small towns destruction; firstly by not bringing crime in the form of "diversity measures", secondly by adopting a more protectionist form of economics to stop the shipping of manufacturing jobs over see, thirdly through psuedo-corporatist economic measures they can give these people a greater voice than they have in current politics.

3
eumenes_of_cardia•

Okay. Good.

Now that this is established, I have the following question:

Have you seen any discussion of these issues among fascists and reactionaries on this site or beyond? I have not seen a lot written so far on fascist or neo-reactionary economics - in general. The most I have seen is some talk of List/Hamiltonian neo-American Model economy, some Distributism, but that's pretty much it. I have seen pretty much nothing on corporatism - or even french style monarcho-syndicalism.

What I am trying to say is that while there does seem to be an appreciation for the devastating effects of free trade and the importation of a lower class that depresses wages and prices, while simultaneously generating more crimes and social issues, I have not seen much talk of strategies to undo the socio-economic damage. Even less about how it could help small towns. The imposition of tariffs will not necessarily mean the return of industry - or of well paying jobs. Williamson has a point: loss of jobs in manufacturing is not just linked to jobs moving oversea: newer technology reduces the need for workers, and we find ourselves in the same situation, even with industry staying home. Should their be a tariff on efficiency? Should there be taxes on automation? Will the White Working Class accept corporatism when they are under the impression that they still can sway elections, not realizing that whoever they put in power will screw them over?

Either I have not looked wide enough or it's the theory that's underdeveloped and the far right has not enough to offer yet. I mean, don't get me wrong - it's not like the other parties have much to offer to them either - but I do believe this is an underdeveloped field.

2
MoprollemsOPLiteral Caliphate•

Allow me to reframe that question with one of my own: has the left given these white working class communities anything beyond maybe scraps from the table? It's always about "muh diversity", "white privilege", "stand up against racism", but the fact is that some white guy who busted his back working retail for minimum wage sure as fuck isn't going to appreciate some college leftist telling him that Jamal and his twelve kids on welfare suffer more than he does.

In terms of what to do with increasing automation, firstly if we do not close the borders and stop migration fast enough, then congratulations the people who are essentially unemployable will grow larger and larger and fight for what little scraps the white working class has as it stands. Secondly a more equal distribution of productive technology, that every man is capable of maintaining a plot of land capable of subsisting on would be necessary,

Ideally the society we'd seek to create is a kind of high-ruralism, restoring ecology and and allowing people to have a secure foodsource whilst turning their pursuits towards more creative efforts.

3
eumenes_of_cardia•

It has given nothing, as far as I can tell. This I don't contest.

As for the high-ruralist society, I won't ask more question within this thread, as we are going off topic, but I would be curious to the details and logistics of implementation. Reading your description, I am reminded of William Morris' News from Nowhere.

However, I am somewhat skeptical, coming from a people whom the Catholic church fought tooth and nail to keep rural - which was a cultural and socioeconomic disaster, which was followed up by an even bigger disaster in the form of a socialist-led aggressive modernizing revolution.

2

Firstly... What "diversity measures" have been brought to small town America?

Affirmatively furthering fair housing is an Obama era bill essentially trying to address the "White Problem" we have in this country and try to ensure that there's not a single sane town in America that Whites can go to without having to deal with minorities. Just as a single example.

Secondly... Manufacturing is long gone from the US and will not return, wages are too attractive in the third world.

Which is why if the cowards run we should simply seize their factories with limited compensation and turn them over to the workers. This in addition to tariffs could easily stop flight to the third world.

Thirdly... How the living fuck does "pseudo-corporatism" give people a voice?

By allowing people to vote for representatives based off of profession rather than location. This gets rid of the leftist trick of trying to import as many brown people as possible to flood an area and vote left.

I'll copy/paste the full section from RationalWiki's post on the Neoreactionary movement.

The main thing neoreactionaries do is blog. One common feature of the movement is a long-winded — ridiculously long-winded — and oblique prose style, eager to show off its mastery of historical trivia; it seems more poetry than politics at times. This is right-wing politics taken to an extreme: radical, deliberately "transgressive" posturing in obscurantist prose. The formulated utilitarian view of human life that is reflected in the writings of neoreactionaries is anticipated by sociologists Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer of the Frankfurt School in their text Dialectic of Enlightenment, holding that the elevation of reason over other human values tends to treat people as means to an end, and elevates Progress to an unquestioned good.30

For an example, Moldbug responded to Richard Dawkins' book The God Delusion by writing a seven-part sequence of posts in September 2007, totalling 37,941 words, in which he conclusively proved, step by step, thread by thread, detail by detail, that Dawkins was, for all his protestations of atheism, in fact... a cultural Christian! 31 Dawkins, of course, stated the same thing in December 2007 in four and a half words: "I'm a cultural Christian".32 (No doubt provoked by Moldbug's stirring rhetoric.) Moldbug's central thesis was a sort of genetic fallacy on steroids, where he thought that if he could show a modern idea descended from a particular idea hundreds of years earlier it could be treated as substantially the same.

Moldbug's early "The magic of symmetric sovereignty" (19 May 2007)33 is short, comprehensible and gets its point across in 1,666 words, rather than barely getting started in that much space. Its thesis is that totalitarian sovereignty would work well if it were unassailably secure. His arguments are made of handwaves and holes, but the interesting bit is the libertarian-style thinking, in which all the hard bits of politics, and why humans are complicated, are handwaved away because he wants so much for his reasoning to reach his desired conclusion. If something looks like an insufficiently-explained logical leap, don't assume he'll get around to properly explaining himself later. Much as per Yudkowsky's style on Overcoming Bias and LessWrong, the apparent references lead to references leading to references, and hardly ever resolve to clear and well-supported substantiation.

After early-period commenters kept calling out his ridiculous misuse of basic terms and glaring factual errors, Moldbug adopted his better-known style, in which he spends a few thousand words redefining English such as to make his striking theses (e.g., "America is a communist country"34) less transparently ludicrous.

Later neoreactionaries write similarly, assuming a certain background cloud of assumptions they never quite get around to fully backing up. Actual checkable claims frequently turn out on inspection to be completely wrong (per Scott Alexander's Anti-Reactionary FAQ).

Why does everyone think that American Hillary-voting starbucks liberals represent "the Left"?

1
MoprollemsOPLiteral Caliphate•

Because there's no meaningful reason to think otherwise.

Let me put it like this, in spite of the actions of (some) leftists, leftism is not a religion, it's an ideology with physical institutions. As a Catholic, even if the Church were reduced to an old Pope and only 100 followers, that would still be the Catholic Church with the Pope. Because we believe in the inherent sacredness of the institution and faith, it is thus unchanging.

Marxism has no divine origin nor claim to "divine" truth, it was a theory put forth by some Jewish guy in the 19th century.

The fact is those "starbucks liberals" certainly don't like Capitalism or anything the right represents, regardless of whether they still retain liberal beliefs they'll delusionally claim to be "anti-capitalist" and "left wing". Were a socialist revolution to happen tomorrow, they sure as fuck would throw themselves behind it because they fundamentally like it.

So you can have some communists like u/diezeiten pointing out, much to their increasing stress, how much the "Socialism is when the government does stuff" crowd is wrong, as long as that crowd makes up the majority of the roster of socialist parties, they, not Marx, are what define what leftism is.

Those nutters are the most meaningful aspect of the left today, they're the ones who push leftism into modern politics, and Marx's actual teachings can do fuck all because he's dead and they're the ones who define what Marxism is.

Because there's no meaningful reason to think otherwise.

Described by the author as "All very relatable."

This is a false hope straight out of why the Democratic Party lost the 2016 election to a fascist.

Retardation confirmed.

Pity they couldn't have put that at the start so I could have ignored the entire article.
