Call audio drops troubleshooting help
I have been trying to figure out why I frequently lose audio during phone calls, and so far I have not been able to isolate the issue to either my phone hardware/software or the wireless service (Cricket). I have been using Cricket for several years, but this issue began when I started using a new phone several months ago.
During most calls, after several minutes, the caller can no longer hear me talking. I can hear them, and the call continues, but there is no way to get the audio to come back. I've tried toggling the speaker, mute, and hold function but nothing works. Usually, when I try to hang up and restart the call, my phone is unresponsive and it takes up to a minute to end the call. Once I do restart the call, audio is normal to begin with but the issue returns after a few minutes.
I am using a Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact with the latest stock firmware. I have tried all the usual recommendations from Sony, including making calls in Safe Mode which does not allow any 3rd party apps to operate.
Please let me know if you have this issue or any ideas to fix it. Thanks.

Usually disabling VoLTE would help with issues like this, but you have XZ1 and it most likely doesn't support Cricket's VoLTE, so there's probably nothing to disable... Only thing you can try is either exchange your XZ1 for another one (if you still would like to use it) or go with different phone by different company (preferably Cricket-branded if you want Android so you'll get proper VoLTE or Wi-Fi Calling without screwing with different firmwares and such).
