I do agree that some setup could come before, and the piece could definitely get depth and substance from that, but I'm not sure that talking about other holidays is where I want to go. This is a moment-in-time piece for me, as April fools and Easter don't always, or even often, coincide. I am hosting an April fools meal with my friends and family on Sunday, so the planning of that is where this one came from.

I like the idea of the poem but it's missing something for me. This feels like the last stanza of a longer piece. I get the joke you're trying to make with Easter and April fools but I feel like it can go deeper. Maybe you could add a few more stanza about other similar holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving. Thanks for sharing xD

Haaa, it took me a second.

It's short a punchy, which I liked. I don't think anything needs to be added, per your comment it is a a very moment-in-time piece and it works in that format. My only suggestion would be to include capitalization and/or punctuation, but that's more of a style preference than anything else. Either way, I enjoyed this little tidbit.

    people don't just
    rise from the dead.
    have a happy
    april fools' weekend.
