VRChat. At first it might seem like it's full of trolls and weirdos being annoying, especially if you only watch videos of it on YouTube or only visit the main worlds. But if you look past that, it has great potential, and it is actually very amazing when you explore all the hundreds of worlds. I've been going in there for two full years now before it got popular this winter, and it's the closest thing to the oasis. I've had my mind blown many times in there, considering the fact that in just a few years, it'll be even better. Everyone has their own custom avatar, you can make your own worlds and play games. There's plenty of places to visit, plenty of pop culture references, even a world dedicated to Never Ending Story for example.

Despite how outdated and janky it is by today's standards, it's gotta be Second Life. It's incredibly rudimentary compared to the Oasis, but it allows you to do a lot of the same fundamental things, i.e. building your own worlds, creating your own content, and selling it for real money.

It's SL and VRChat on a social media (reddit, facebook, tumblr) and game client (Steam, Blizzard, Origin) blender.

Second Life.

Literally the exact same idea coming from the same source of inspiration; the book Snow Crash. SL is a precursor for precisely what the Oasis is portrayed as. Virtual world where you can be or make anything.

Your average MMORPG + Virtual reality could really represent the game. For me, as crazy as it may seem, the game took me back 4 years ago to a Minecraft server with a lot of plugins. Although it wasn't virtual reality, the economy was so strong that people bought things and gambled with real money. They could also lose it all if they were targeted by a more experienced player who had all the means to carry out a massive raid, they literally paid people virtual money to befriend the target and then trick him into inviting to their faction. There were minigames like races, parkour, etc with good rewards. There was a special division of "hackers" who tried to gather information from the real world to make it useful on the server. The best clans competed with each other to get the best weapons and limited edition items. Young kids fell in love, and all the older people told them things like "I assure you that isn't a girl but a fat guy living in a basement".

Sansar is doing some nice things with all the Official RPO expereinces for VR. Made by the creators of second life. https://youtu.be/-tdkW64u3YA

VRChat is cool but not for me, its a little too trollish and childish but defintely check it out. https://youtu.be/Q9GsiN1zyWY

The Wave VR has The Distracted Globe Experience (the NightClub in RPO) Its really cool actually danced there with 20 people when it was released. Very Fun you can also goto VR Raves and take drugs lol https://youtu.be/GCXBG7U9Lqc

Sansar will need some improvements because the engine sucks. With a 1080 I could barely walk around in Aech's garage

Back in the day, there was The Sims Online, which was essentially eclipsed by Second Life. It was exactly like The Sims, but Second Life easily became a favorite because it’s much more customizable if you know code and supposedly you can make actual money if you’re really good at designing 3D objects.
