Very nice!
Thanks man!
That is beautiful! I can't believe the number of colors you got into it, with everything so clean. Combine that with excellent artwork of an awesome game, and you have one hell of a disc dye.
Out of curiosity did you dip dye for each color, or did you paint on the dyes over your masks?
Thanks! I still can't believe how well this disc took colors, may as well have been white. I still look at it and can't believe it's a thing I made.
I never do hot dips anymore, too hard to avoid bleeding, especially without complete remasks for each color. I painted on dye mixed with shaving cream, much easier to control. Although it got away from me on the flames on Amaterasu and I lost a lot of lighter tones.
Odinsphere had dope art also!
Ive been meaning to play that, another good idea, I'll have to add it to the play/dye list. I also want to do Viewtiful Joe, No More Heroes, and Muramasa among others.
Viewtiful Joe was such fun! PS2 had/has some gems!
So good! I've been waiting for the right idea to commit to a dye like this that's going to take a bunch of time and different processes.
Thanks! I did the same thing, needed the right disc and idea to come together, and a good bit of time to flesh out what the process would be. Making a mock-up in Gimp/Photoshop helped me figure out and break up the layers.
I highly recommend going for it though, it was hugely rewarding and you'll learn a ton.
Beauty! You said you don't do hot dips anymore, but I assume you stencil dyed the black part?
Thanks! I still use stencils. I used 3 different handcut masks, worked dark to light, and used cut out pieces to remask when colors wouldn't play nice.
ahhh, cool.
Beautiful work, and you have great taste in games!
Thanks, the art style from that game is so good and perfect dye fodder. Definitely going to need to replay it again and track down some white unstamped plasma
