Rational proof of the existence of God.

You know people who claim to have rational evidence of god's existence? All the religious I know don't have any evidence based claims outside of faith

That's more or less my point. I would like to have a discussion about religion and faith but based as much on rational fact as possible.

I think I misinterpreted your question with respect to the post title. Comment saved to read the comments.

When you try to break something like faith or love down to its component parts and talk about it “rationally” you will always leave something out. Spirituality is subjective and experiential.

It’s important to know that there is a difference between fact and truth. A work of fiction, for example, doesn’t relay facts, but it can speak truth. (E.g. Samwise shows of the true meaning of friendship in the Lord of the Rings trilogy).

I think the best you could hope for would be to talk to a religious person about the experiences that led them to believe, and how their faith affects their daily life, that is if you want to know how a person of faith justifies their belief.

If you come at it from the angle of being as rational and factual as possible, you are dismissing important aspects faith and spirituality, and you will seem like you are approaching someone in bad faith, and you’ll be met with defensiveness.
