Empty as an Ocean

(to my brother, I hope you find your way)

Every night I wake to the
endless swaying -
of the waves
Greeted only by the silence
of empty winds

• Dead Sails -
  I'm adrift to no where

Weeks.... Months, maybe

Spent in a never ending
Pull-drag
Up-down motion

Surrounded only by the deep blue,
I forget what land looks like
I forget what search lights look like....

Everyone stopped searching
long ago
I stopped searching
long ago

All I have now is loneliness
The kind of loneliness that...
Echos through you

It reaches, shakes, then
Breaks. The foundation you stand on.

Revealing my depths....

No deeper than the waves beneath me

I am alone
In my loneliness.
