I Swore I Saw a Swollen Star

I swore I saw a swollen star
Amidst the velvet sky
It shone alone from realms afar
Yet met my pensive eye
I followed, Deep into the night
And traced its glinted beam
Yet soon replaced by morning light:
My star had fled - Unseen

And that is life, my dearest friend
A chase that cannot be
We find no peace, nor holy end
In this unholy sea
