Acer Predator Z35 200hz
I'm thinking about getting this monitor because I was looking at the X35 and PG35VQ, but with the price of the PG27UQ leaked, it seems as if the 35 inch HDR monitors will be easily more than 2k which I'm not looking to spend.
I don't mind the Z35 being a 1080p panel, and I mainly want it for the 200hz refresh rate and the 21:9 aspect ratio. I currently have a 34 inch 1080p ultrawide, so I know how the resolution and screen real estate would be like.
I know it was previously around $1000 at release and it wasn't a good deal for that price, but now that it's dropped to $700 would you guys say that's a good choice if I just want a 21:9 and 200hz monitor? If it's not a good choice, what's you suggestions?

Don't. Just don't.
Not only is the 1080p part bad...really bad(imo at least...I've seen it, it looks terrible to me, like somehow worse than I expected, maybe cause of the curve or the panel idk), but its VA AND 200hz. VA has some pretty terrible response times for its darker colors and it shows. That monitor is barely usable for anyone with ghosting standards at 120hz, much less 200.
See, generally you want your MAX response time to be lower than your highest frame rates frametime for a single frame(this is so the pixels are done transitioning fully from the colors they were at in the last frame, so they can start transitioning to the colors for the next). 144hz is ~7ms, 200hz is 5ms. The Z35 hits 3.9min, 9 average(so even if that was best case it would blur), and hold on to your pants...at max it hits 51.5ms. That is pathetic. It's terrible. Shit on this monitor looks like a old school CoD montage with the motion blur cranked up to 11. It's terrible.
Don't believe me? Check out this review; http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_predator_z35.htm
Specifically the response time bits, and the conclusion, which states that blurring and smearing is a problem due to slow response times, and refresh rates over 120 just not being practical...they are being nice with those statements imo. IPS has gotten to the point with monitors like the PG279Q where it is fast enough to not cause undue blurring at all...VA has not.
OPs definitely not buying it now.
Second this.
Thanks for the info. I guess I just have to bite the bullet and get the new 35 inch HDR monitors when they release. I know it still might not be good, but better to snag them and try it out even if I gotta return them if they aren't up to par. I'm really after the 200hz refresh rate, so kinda at a loss on what kind of monitor to get if they both don't work.
I mean, you could try finding some reviews and save yourself the time if they are duds.
I've been waiting for over a year for high refresh rate, so I'm willing to take some time to try them out first-hand the instant they release them. Thanks again for the help though.
Yep. No problem. Good luck
