Why does the Kleenex box always lose a fold, where I pull one out and the next one doesn't follow, when it's one third full (or two thirds empty)?

Most of my Kleenex boxes over the last few years do that. I think it's because the machine that interleaves the tissues just misses every now and then. And I notice it happening at random places in the stack, usually several times per box. And you're right - it's annoying.
Guess there was no conspiracy. 😅

I would guess that it's an indication that the box is one third full (or two thirds empty) so that you know you need to buy a new box soon.
Maybe you're right... It's really annoying though. =/
Because usually the plastic/opening on the box is what 'catches' the next tissue, the tissue your pulling, pulls the other one and then slips off, leaving that second tissue stuck.
As the box get's empty, this causes the next tissue to fall too early as it unfolds when you pull one out or not get pulled through the plastic/opening as the tissue hits it and gets pushed off rather than pulled through the gap.
If this were the case, wouldn't the following tissues fall short too? Or am I not reading this correctly? =s
It sort of uses the folding of the tissues and the friction between them, when you pull a tissue out the angle of the fold provides enough friction to pull the next tissue through the hole.
As the box gets empty, that angle get's bigger so provides less friction, so the tissue either slips off the first one before it is pulled through the hole, the weight of the other tissue (as there will be 2, the one you pull and the next one that supposed to come out in the same way) holding it back and causing it to slip off, or the opening sort of pushes it off as it's coming out of the hole.
It's a little hard to explain. lol
I think I kind of get it. I'll keep a close eye on my next box of tissues! Thanks for taking the time to explain! It was really bothering me for some odd reason. :]
A more rectangular box this won't happen, taller/square boxes it's probably more likely to happen.
