Blue Sunlight
The prodigal sun showed up
Nonchalant and enviably cool in its lateness
Of course we waited
The flowers smooth down their tight dresses and bite their petal lips, swaying with intent, hoping to catch a glance, perchance a kiss
I scowl they never bloomed for me
Do I not shine
Am I not focal
What hollow, backless hatefulness hides behind my defiant sunglasses?
I count the days 'til winter
