Hey Guys, I was the DETROIT LIONS gm for this Mock. I was joined by a swell group of guys and would like to thank all of them for joining me in the war room. I would like to apologize for not writing a explantion for the first round but I think the trade back explains itself. We didn't see the value in the pick with guys like LVE, Landry, Davenport, and Vea gone, so traded back hoping one of the good IOL would drop (LIKE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TOO) all 4 of the IOL we wanted went late first so we needed to change our plan. Which is fine, because I think trading back allowed us to fix a lot more holes.

-Trades-

1.20 for 2.33 2.64 and 6.175

2.33 and 7.237 for 2.57, 3.71, and 5.162

-Second Round Pick 51- Sam Hubbard EDGE ,THE OHIO STATE

-Second Round Pick 57- Harrison Phillips DT, Stanford

-Second Round Pick 64- Nick Chubb RB, Georgia

-Third Round Pick 71- Uchenna Nwosu OLB/EDGE, USC

-Third Round pick 82- Wyatt Teller OG, Virgina Tech

If you guys have any questions just fire away and I'll try to explain each pick.

Harrison Phillips is a nice pick. In fact you smashed the 2nd round.

13
peach_teets•

His profile on nfl.com is not very flattering. I’d love a DT for the Lions in the draft, but why Phillips?

1
jonnypope89•

I like his power there’s a clip of him man handling Quinton Nelson. He’s a good run stopper and was very productive in college, I’m not sure how many tackles he had but I know he lead the team.

Detroit allowed more rushing TDs than any other team last season. Their run defence at best was average and I think this guy going there will improve that.

His pass rush isn’t amazing but he still managed 7.5 sacks last year.

I’m certainly no expert by a long way but he’s a guy I’ve taken a liking to and I’m going to keep an eye on to see where he lands.

I hope the Lions don't draft this well at the real draft.

Damn.

Even with the trade downs you kept getting great players who filled your needs. You guys did a great job!

9
jjbrandon9988•

Crushed it man. I was Dwight in there with you.

Incredible 2nd round, Nwosu is a great scheme fit, and Teller paired with Chubb are great selections for our power scheme. This alone would make our front 7 at least not a weakness, and our run game tough to defend.

If you were Dwight was he Michael or Jim?

Very erect right now.

Darkprince1287Packers•

Wow that’s a great haul for the Lions. Hubbard would form a stout pass rushing duo with Ansah. Phillips would plug up the middle and replace Ngata. Chubb’s running style is extremely complementary to that of Theo Riddick. Great job!

Bears GM here,

I was trying to trade up to 36 for Taven Bryan but the Seahawks GM was being a little shit so I sat at 39 and Calvin Ridley fell right into my soft lap.

The truth is he shouldn't have fallen that low but... he did so I took him. I mean, the dude's comp is Marvin Harrison. Would YOU pass on Marvin Harrison with a 2nd round pick? No you would not.

So far in the draft, the Bears have gotten Tremaine Edmunds(Brian Urlacher) and Calvin Ridley(Marvin Harrison).

Applaud me.

19
ChiefBearClawBears•

If we draft both of them and they only live up to 50% of those comps that would be pretty good

4
jamzgoeshamzBears•

For sure. This community mock has been fucked from the start though so I'd take the picks and moves with an Earth-sized grain of salt.

Hi, Colts GM#3 here with the day 2 write up. u/Big_Morf did the day 1 write up here. Thanks to u/jaysrule24 u/PerendiaEshte u/dicnavis33 u/griffonidas and u/jonnypope89 for the help in the war room.

Day 1 trades (Not Morf’s trades)

Traded 1.06 and 5.140 for 1.12 and 1.22

Traded 2.36 and 2.49 for 1.18

Day 1 picks

1.12- Harold Landry EDGE Boston College

1.18- Leighton Vander Esch LB Boise St

1.22- Will Hernandez OG UTEP

Day 2 trades

Traded 2.37 and 4.104 for 2.47, 3.97 and 4.134

Traded 3.67, 7.221, 2019 6th for 3.66

Day 2 picks

2.47- Carlton Davis CB Auburn

We decided to trade down and get a mid-round pick back from the trade yesterday. Davis was one of our top options before we traded down, so it was a pretty easy pick for us. He’ll step in opposite Quincy Wilson and help fill out a promising young secondary.

3.66- Kolton Miller OT UCLA

Originally we were going to go with a WR or a RB here. But we noticed Miller on the board, some of us have him as a 1st round talent, and felt that his upside could help turn our offensive line in to a strength. We originally planned to trade up with the Vikings, but their guy fell to them, and saw that the Browns wanted to trade down. It was only 1 spot and most will probably think we overpaid for it. But we felt that another team might want to trade up to take him and parting with a 7th and a future 6th was worth it to make sure we got him.

3.97- Deon Cain WR Clemson

Ideally I wanted to trade back and get a few more day 3 picks, but the trade I had lined up with the Packers fell through after Andrews got took 2 picks before. We decided to address WR and get a guy who can take over from Moncrief and has the potential to be better than him.

15
90WCaLPackers•

Damn, replace Hernandez with Alexander and this would be an ideal draft for my Packers.

Want to trade picks?

3
LessThanCleverNamePackers•

It’s actually better with Hernandez, honestly.

Davis is a nice CB, wh fits the Packers thresholds better, plus we get the second best guard, which, while I liked what McCray did could definitely be seen as a pretty large need.

Link to Day 1 Explanation

Trades:

  1. NYG trades 34, 108 for CIN 46, 77, 170, 252

Picks:

  • 2.46: Austin Corbett, OL, Nevada
  • 2.53: Holton Hill, CB, Texas
  • 3.65: Tyrell Crosby, OL, Oregon
  • 3.69: Kemoko Turay, EDGE, Rutgers
  • 3.77: James Washington, WR, Oklahoma State

Explanations:

Trade 1

We considered taking Ragnow ourselves (who Cincy took with the pick) but we liked the amount of contingencies we had, especially considering how many players we didn't like who would go in that range (Michel, a couple of WRs, Bryan, etc.) so we decided to move back, collect a mid 3rd and late 5th (with a nice 7th rounder for apple <3) which put us in prime position to get more players we really like. The IOL just went too early. I like Ragnow a lot, and would take him around 46, but the rush on IOL early made me hesitant and like the idea of trading down, with a deep class of guards and a few early 3rds to spend I felt comfortable with this.

Round 2, Pick 46

With this pick, we still got a player I really like who can slot in at guard or center day 1 in Austin Corbett from Nevada. Guard was a huge need we wanted to address, but all of the IOL got snatched up late in the first, so we decided to drop down a tier and take a really talented player who has been shooting up draft boards recently. Good footwork, needs to get a bit stronger and work on his recovery and leverage, but overall, a very very solid IOL that we can plug and play if we want to and take over for Brett Jones in the event we decide to let him walk this offseason (I think Corbett can play center as well).

Round 2, Pick 53

This one is mostly u/apple_turnovers but I agree with what he said. Hill on the field is one of the top 3 CBs in this class for me without a doubt, and getting him at 53 is good value for the player. There is concern about his off field issues, but I think with the guys in our locker room, with Dave Gettleman and Pat Shurmur's regime and the way that looks, that our organization has the structure in place. You've seen issues, but I think now we have guys who have seen what losing really looks like and how bad it can get and help him get himself in order and do what he needs to to stay on the field.

Round 3, Pick 65

Yeah, so we doubled up on OL...it wasn't initially the plan. Initially the plan was to take Sam Hubbard at 53, but he went just before us. So we went with our second option there, Hill. And then the 2nd round ended and we realized Crosby was still on the board. Crosby is my OT3 right now, and could play guard if his athleticism and hips don't turn out to be good enough. This is just pure BPA. He gives us another option at guard for depth, additional competition for Flowers at RT, and a potential successor for Flowers if we choose not to retain him after this year at the RT spot. This is like a full round after I would personally take him, so I'm really happy with this value.

Round 3, Pick 69

We take a kid from a hometown school here at 69 (NICE!) in Turay. Turay is a super raw, athletic pass rushing specialist. He's explosive, athletic, good tackler. He's got great upside, highly coachable. We can get him involved as a pass rusher exclusively as we work him into a 3 down player potentially. We need extra pass rushing ability and Turay provides that right away.

Round 3, Pick 77

This is another just pure BPA pick. James Washington is my WR1, and the value is just too much to pass up. He fills a potential role as more of a burner. Shurmur's offense in Minnesota had no real troubles without a big red zone threat WR on the outside, and got along fine with Kyle Rudolph. Rudolph is a bit bigger than Evan Engram, but I could see Rhett Ellison help out in this regard as well. Washington is just too good of a player for me to pass up this late.

AMA

13
hn68wb4Ravens•

Ravens draft so far is shaping up pretty terrible. Total project QB that won't contribute at all year 1 in the first round, then reaching for Warner in the second over clearly better options - a player that I like BTW, but mid-2nd is a reach.

Ian Thomas isn't bad in the 3rd, but again, better options at bigger positions of need are on the board. Orlando Brown for example is a steal at that point and we still haven't taken any WRs yet, still a huge area of need since John Brown and Snead are really only slot options.

10
JudonThrow•

I agree with your assessment, but John Brown is the opposite of a slot guy. He is an injury prone burner (like a glass Torrey Smith), we definitely should have at least one WR at this point in the draft.

1
JonRahmbo49ers•

Hey everyone, posting the explanations for our picks. We basically group picked all of our picks.
Round 2, Pick 44, Josh Sweat, EDGE, FSU
We traded picks 59 and 92 to grab the best available EDGE. We like his ability to bend a lot and his potential to become a great pass rusher is there. He’ll play in a rotation with Attachou for his rookie year and should be a very solid contributor to our d-line.
Round 3, Pick 70, Dante Pettis, WR, Washington
We were deciding whether to go Turay or a wide receiver at this pick, but Turay got taken. Dante’s smooth route running and great hands are great parts of his game. He can separate pretty well, but needs to be better at beating the press. He should see snaps in the slot and possibly outside. He will, of course, get all the snaps at punt returner.
Round 3, Pick 74, Quenton Meeks, CB, Stanford
Quenton Meeks is a long corner with decent agility. He’s great at pressing receivers at the line but isn’t the fastest of corners. He won’t have to start day 1, unless Richard Sherman isn’t ready to play week 1. We believe he can develop into a hell of a corner for our scheme though.

9
DanBRZ49ers•

Trade back to 28, then use that 3rd pick to move up for...Josh Sweat the one kneed man? As a rotational pass rusher?

Should have just grabbed Landry and Fred Warner IMO.

Love the other 2 picks but our first 2 rounds we're rough to say the least IMO

11
JonRahmbo49ers•

I believe that Josh Sweat can play at LEO and be a great pass rusher. As for Braden Smith he fills a massive need for us and is the best ZBS guard in the draft.

2
DanBRZ49ers•

After a year or two of being a rotational piece..maybe. If his knee doesn't blow up again.

I just don't get the reasoning for passing on a legit LEO like Landry or moving up in the draft for a guy who had such a serious knee injury.

1
JonRahmbo49ers•

His injury was 4 years ago. He hasn't had a complication since.

3
Snape_Shifter•

Josh Sweat's injury history:

2014: Dislocated knee cap/torn ACL that almost forced him to lose his leg

2016: Torn meniscus

2017: Tore ligaments in his finger

3 major injuries requiring surgery in a 4 year career.

That doesn't scare the crap out of you? I have serious issue with trading up to get someone who has the potential but may be physically unable to hold up.

We can't afford to take a gamble in year 2 of a new FO and GM, and this seems like a massive gamble. I'd be fine if he dropped to our original position, but why the need to trade up for such a risk?

4
JonRahmbo49ers•

He had a clean medical at the combine. Is having a torn ligament in the finger really such a big deal when he played through his whole sophomore season with it? He still played with the meniscus injury in 2016 and was actually pretty productive until he had to get surgery on it. The injury "risk" really isn't that big of a deal, since he came back with a clean medical.

5
Snape_Shifter•

The injury "risk" really isn't that big of a deal, since he came back with a clean medical.

I'm not suggesting he isn't healthy, I'm suggesting that he gets major injuries at an alarming rate.

When he starts getting hit and hitting bigger, faster players it could potentially exacerbate what is clearly a bad trend of major injuries.

So, he is healthy now, but for how much longer? A trade up is a huge gamble.

1
JonRahmbo49ers•

Not sure how tearing ligaments in your finger is a major injury. He only missed two games in 2016 because of the meniscus, which wasn't even a major injury considering he came back that same season to play against Michigan in their bowl game. It was a minor operation on his meniscus.

4
DanBRZ49ers•

On top of this he had 5.5 sacks last year. We're giving up capital that was necessary for us to move back to 28 for 5.5 sacks last year.

3
bullseye717Saints•

I wouldn't put too much stock into college sack totals. Danielle Hunter, Ziggy Ansah, JPP, Chandler Jones, and Cam Jordan didn't have flashy sack totals but are super productive edge rushers.

2
PapaFish49ers•

Barf.

Meeks is the only player I agree with taking where you took them in this abomination of a draft.

2

2
AnalAttackProbe49ers•

lmao I am too high for this shit. my bad.

I still really hate Braden Smith in the first, though. That's like... unbelievably bad drafting.

8
JonRahmbo49ers•

He's my OG1 for our scheme. He moves so well and is great in pass protection. I think getting our running game going is going to be a massive key in getting a dominant offense.

2
imthedanRaiders•

Well the Raiders picks can't get much worse.

8
Play4Blood•

3 really good players, and each one addresses a need.

Yeah, man. That's just awful.

3†
ICookTheBlueStuffRaiders•

I mean, I'm not big on this draft so far. But I actually do like the Mike Hughes pick. I think he's a steal in the second.

3
imthedanRaiders•

Hughes is the only pick that I do like, but in my mind, you take Ward at 10 (within this mock). If you do, then corner isn't as big of a need and you can go elsewhere in the 2nd.

5
eddie2911Raiders•

I would love Hughes in the 2nd. Gallup would be solid value in the 3rd. But yeah I'm not digging Williams at 10. I just don't think he's worth that high of a spot and while LTOTF is a need I don't like using a top 10 pick for it. If we go OT in the first I hope it's after a trade down. Just my opinion. I know there's a contingency here that has Williams rated much higher than most.

3
Miami_da_URaiders•

We tried to trade down, but it's pretty hard to trade down in these mocks, cause no ones trying to give up their 2nds (and we're not going to make a stupid trade). I agree with you. I didn't want Williams unless we traded down but we voted in the War Room, and Williams won.

The rest of the draft after that was excellent though. And we knew we didn't need to go CB in the 1st because a good CB always falls. Hughes is a top 3 CB in this draft. And we loaded up at WR and on offense in general.

2
ItsMajorObviousNowRaiders•

And what’s the reasoning behind that? How about you explain why you don’t like the picks?

1
imthedanRaiders•

Williams at 10 is a horrible pick. There's too much talent on the board to pass up for Williams. Ward should have been the pick in this mock. We grab our corner that can play in or outside. Match him with Conley and Melvin and now we have a trio of corners that we can build on.

I am fine with the Hughes pick in the 2nd, so that'd have to change, but then we're just creating a new mock.

My point is Williams at 10 is horrible value. In a trade down, maybe I'd be fine with it, but you cannot pass up on the talent there at 10 for Williams.

5
ItsMajorObviousNowRaiders•

Cb is deep. We grabbed the best OT on the board in our opinion because we knew someone else we liked would fall. If Minkah was there we were going to take him but he wasn’t. We decided to protect Carr. We also discussed Landry there.

Others have said it but if you want to help us not make “terrible” picks come help us. Also your first post should have included why you didn’t like the picks but thank you for supplying it here.

-1
PeaceLoveUnity7Raiders•

Seriously. This dude fucking runs it every year for us and always picks terribly.

0†
GeoffbotOPTexans•

He picks with what his war room votes on, if you guys joined you can help influence the picks. It's definitely a collective effort and not just him though, you would know if you guys showed up next time.

13
PeaceLoveUnity7Raiders•

I do know because you guys say that same thing every year. I dont want or need to be apart of your war room to praise or criticize the outcome. Fact is hes always the main GM and him and his war room always do a terrible job

-2†
thelovebatChiefs•

If you want the war room to do less of a terrible job in your view then the only way to influence the decisions being made in there is to join the war room and offer up your viewpoint.

4
vicsage83Raiders•

Except he wasn’t the GM for last years official mock but whatever. Who needs facts when you have a narrative to maintain?

And you are more than welcome to share your ideas so I can tell you they are terrible.

4
apple_turnoversGiants•

Uh you absolutely do need to be part of the war room if you're going to moan and complain about the job he's doing. You 100% have the ability to sign up as GM or influence the WR. It's not an exclusive club. If you don't have time for that, then don't trash other people's decisions when they take the time to do something for the community.

And the fact that you didn't even add anything concerning the actual players taken makes me think you just like to complain and have nothing of substance to add to a football conversation.

1
PedroiaWelkerPatriots•

I don’t know We weren’t huge fans of him but the value felt too good to pass up

2
jmvarsityPatriots•

Why Arden Key? Nothing about him says Patriots pick

1
PedroiaWelkerPatriots•

The reasoning behind the Key pick was that his dedication issues are overblown and he can be an excellent defender in the NFL. I do agree that he doesn’t seem like a pick the pats would make but it’s a pick I think they should make

2
KryloCardinals•

Cardinals GM here. Link to Day 1

  • 2.37 Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU

The trade was: Cardinals give 2.47+3.97+4.134 for Colts 2.37+4.104. It's pretty obvious that we need a WR, so I traded up to make sure that we got the one of the best in the draft. The trade is fair. We essentially swapped 2nds and 4ths while losing our 3rd round comp pick.

Now some of you may wonder why I went Sutton over Ridley. I don't really like using these terms, but I think he has a higher ceiling than Ridley. Ridley is the safer pick, but I thinks it's really unlikely that he ever becomes a top 10 WR in the league, while I think Sutton has that potential. Sutton is my WR1 for this draft and the only one I would take in the 1st.

  • 3.79 Martinas Rankin, OL, Mississippi St

We had a decent offer to trade down from here, but Rankin was too good to pass up. He has good size, athleticism, and intelligence. There is talk of where his best spot on the OL line is. Whether its OT, OG, or even C he wouldn't be rushed to start with how our line is and the coaching staff would have the time to put him in his best spot.

  • 3.89 Nathan Shepard, DT, Fort Hays St

It was between Rankins and Shepard back at 3.79, so when he kept falling I decided to trade up for him. Depending on how you value future picks you may hate this trade. The trade was Cardinals give 4.104+2019 3rd for the Titans 3.89. It does seem like a lot, but Shepard has quite a bit of potential. I have him ranked as a late 2nd rounder so the value was there to me. He's big, raw, and athletic. Due to his rawness, he would be a rotational DT his rookie year with a chance to start his 2nd year. Also the Cardinals have met with him twice, so there's a good chance that we actually draft him.

6
deangelo_vickers_Cardinals•

I get that Sutton is the one you like the best and I have no issue making a move to get your guy. Doesn't it seem kind of unnecessary to trade up though, with Ridley, Kirk, and Chark still on the board? I have no issue with Sutton, just found that interesting.

Other than that, pretty ideal for us. Could make a case to have gone after a CB somewhere, but these are all solid picks. Nice work!

3
KryloCardinals•

So for starters I don't have Chark as a 2nd rounder and have Gallup as a late 2nd-early 3rd, so they weren't really options.

The only 3 WR's that I would take in the top half of the 2nd are Sutton, Ridley, or Kirk. I expected the Bears to take one of them, and there was a good chance that someone would have take them or jumped us for the other two. I've seen a few drafts happen on here where those three are gone before we pick. Here is one example where those 3+ Moore went between picks 35-44. So I didn't want to take the chance that one of them would be available, and went up to get one.

3
deangelo_vickers_Cardinals•

thanks for the explanation! would be pretty pleased if it worked out this way

2
beergotmeherePanthers•

Panthers don't address our biggest need, a safety. Then we take a late round QB with one of our 3rd round picks, while Marcus Allen & Kyzir White are still on the board? Also take a second CB after taking Jaire in the first. Oooffff. I'm good with the first two rounds, but third round misses hard.

6
alpengeist19Panthers•

Maybe they think MJ Stewart can play safety? I haven't seen anything about it but it's possible. Definitely agree about Lauletta though, that's a head scratcher.

Personally I'm not a fan of the Penny pick either. I think whichever of S, DE, or CB isn't addressed in the first should be taken there, and even a WR or OLine. We've gotta be ready for the retirements of Pep, Kalil, and Mike Adams, and there are plenty of good RBs to be had in the 3rd or later this year

3
HPUpiratesPanthers•

Wasn't in the discussion but I know last time they do think Stewart can play S. Still though I would take a S that isn't a project as it's an immediate need. The Lauletta pick is really bad though with White, Ejiofor, Hamilton, and Cain all on the board at positions of need. I mean we would hope that Lauletta would never even play through his rookie contract.

3
enfyte416Goodell•

We do consider MJ Stewart a Free Safety convert. I actually like our third round the most honestly. Don't agree at all with the first posters assessment of Lauletta being a late round QB. He's a guy I'd start considering in the 2nd round, which makes him a good value.

2
KaptainKickassVikings•

###Round 1, pick 30 - Billy Price IOL Ohio State

Obvious pick here. Vikes like him and he played with Elf at Ohio. Seems like a no brainer with the other big name IOL off the board. (More write up will come on final write up)

###Round 2, pick 62 - Rasheem Green DE USC

Rasheem Green will most likely be a 5T due to his size, but he will do a damn good job of it. Rasheem put up a solid performance at the combine and will be great at setting the edge on passing downs. He will be part of the game plan from day one since Everson Griffen played too many snaps last year and got burnt out.

###Round 3, TRADE

Vikings trade 3.94 to Rams for 4.111, 4.136 and 6.195.

Hard to say no to this value. We now have 8 day 3 picks to fill in depth positions or some firepower if we need to leap up for some who falls.

5
TheGrayPaladinVikings•

Green will start out as a rotational DE on run downs and rotational DT on pass downs. Since he is raw, he will become our long term starter for whichever position he ends up fitting into more, and we trust Zimmer and Patterson (our DL coach) to bring out the best in him. There will also be good leadership from the players we have at the position, and Griffen went to USC as well. With Griffen on the wrong side on 30, Robison in his last year, and Richardson on only a one year deal, it was important to us that we add rotational depth to the DL. Assuming we are able to extend Hunter, we should be very confident in our DL for the next few years.

Our projected DL roster in 2018 would look something like Griffen (starting DE), Hunter (starting DE), Joseph (starting DT), Richardson (starting DT), Green (rotational DE/DT), Robison (rotational DE/DT), Jaleel Johnson (backup DT), and Odenigbo, Bower, and Weatherly (backup DEs) fighting for the last one or two spots in camp/preseason.

I'll discuss our OL for the final write up.

Saints Picks

As you guys know we traded out of the 1st yesterday for a mid 2nd and a package of other picks. We took less than chart value on this deal but the amount of picks in return made up that difference for everyone in the war room so we proceeded. We ended up with 2.45 and 3.91 today.

Round 2 Pick 13, #45 OVerall

We took TE Hayden Hurst with this pick. He was on our short list had we stayed in the first so we were pretty happy with this result.

Hurst is a big, strong 2 way TE with good hands and decent speed. Not an amazing route runner but he blocks well enough to stay on the field for all 3 downs which is important since our offense is so much more run heavy.

Round 3 Pick 27, #91 Overall

We took BJ Hill, DT from NC State. Hill has ideal size and athleticism, an ability to play 1 tech or 3 tech, and was recruited to NC State by our current Line coach. He should be able to step right in and fill out the 4th spot in our DT rotation and can develop into a quality starter, important with Davison late in his rookie deal.

We filled two needs tonight, and we're looking forward to tomorrow because we have the first pick in the 4th and we also have picks 4.127, 5.147, 5.167, 5.172, 6.186, 6.189, 6.201, and 7.245

Very nice trade. I'm so tired of seeing the Saints trade back and only ending up with 1 extra pick.

Browns traded 66 for 67, 222, and a 2019 6th

We took Kerryon Johnson because the filthy Lions stole Nick Chubb two picks before us :(

Freeman was in the discussion but we got Kerryon my wayward son just for you <3

With the o-line you guys have Kerryon will be able to utilize his blockers well with that running style. He has that ability like Le'veon Bell to be patient with his blockers and then use his vision to make the right cut.

I live me some Freeman but Kerryon is a dawwwwwgggggg

Well damn, I'd be pretty pumped about Tremaine Edmunds and Calvin Ridley

I traded up to pick Ragnow and picked Kyzir White in the third

I'll write up something for the whole draft when it's over

Hey crack. Big fan. How much did the organization mess up with not drafting a C first round, and then having to use other picks to make up ground, to get a C in the second?

Thanks I’ll listen off the air.

It sucked not getting a Center round one but we have 11 picks in this draft, so that’s ripe for trading up somewhere. Just so happened to be in round two this time.

I prefer Hernandez over Wynn just slightly but man if this plays out on draft day ill be giddy. Talk about turning a weakness into a strength in one offseason. Glenn Boling Ragnow Wynn Fisher/Whoever SHWINGGG thats an oline that will get Mixon 2k yards in a season at some point.

Are you happy with the picks you made? Are there any changes you would've made in hindsight?

I think we played it as best we could, we wanted Miller or Crosby with our first pick but didnt want to move up because we didnt want to lose any picks. Elliott is a great safety and a good player to pick there. After that we decided to trade back because the offer was to good from Dallas. With the last 2 picks we went BPA and filled a huge need with Andrews while also taking in our opinion the best Tackle available.

Dallas GM

Trade: DALLAS 3.95 + 4.116 + 7.236 for HOUSTON 3.80 (I got chewed out for this trade so if you dont like it my bad)

3.80 - Terrell Edmunds S

We wanted one of Harrison or Edmunds here at 80. Harrison went right before us so we settled with Edmunds. Just like his brother, Edmunds his extremely athletic and fluid. Could play FS, SS, and even some Dime LB.

Yeah not a fan of a lot of these trades...

If it was me drafting, we'd have Daniels(23), Miller(50), Gauldeen(81) and Jewell(95) right now, with the ability to take Senat at 116 and whoever I want at 137(Tre'Quan Smith/J'mon Moore? Another LB like Cichy? TE like Fumagali? Back up RB? Etc)

6 players maximum make your roster. 5 is most likely. We need to use these picks.

Ravens GM here

I had used a lot of our pick time talking to some teams about moving down, but unfortunately we couldn't get a deal done and we used a lot of our time in the process.

Round 1, Pick 16: Lamar Jackson, QB, Louisville

With not a lot of time left to debate the pick, I went with a guy who I've really been sold on recently and a couple of the other war room members said they would be good with. To me this was one of the only picks at 16 that had a lot of value and I just don't see the value in any receivers at pick 16. This pick will be controversial among Ravens fans but after realizing that Flacco can easily be cut next year and the fact that our director of scouting was glowing about LJ, I feel as if this is a good and realistic pick.

Round 2, Pick 52: Fred Warner, LB, BYU

We were actually getting ready to pick Gesicki but you know the Patriots just had to come in and take him. Anyways, we ended up going with my favorite of the second tier of linebackers in this class, Fred Warner. He is an absolute stud in coverage, has good instincts and is a solid overall tackler. BYU did not use him to his strengths and that became apparent when he showed up at the Senior Bowl and looked fantastic.

Round 3, Pick 83: Ian Thomas, TE, Indiana

One of my favorite stories in the draft, this kid actually grew up in Baltimore and had to overcome a lot of adversity to get to where he is today. He isn't just a good story though, he can play. He has a chance to become a really good receiving tight end with his skill set and athleticism, and I think he is just scratching the surface of what his potential could be. He is one of the better blockers out of the receiving TEs too, he has shown a willingness to block and has improved on it since arriving at Indiana from JuCo.

I'm curious, why did you guys pass on Christian Kirk at 52? I was almost certain you guys would take him with how much receiving help you guys need, and he could play at any spot on the field (also had a pretty nice combine for those thinking he couldn't play more than just in the slot).

JDDub96Ravens•

Honestly we were gonna take Gesicki and when he got picked we were kind of scrambling. I've taken him in the second of a few mocks before, really good player that I would be happy with.

If Browns land Darnold, Chubb, Jackson and Hearst they will have an unbelievable defense.
