EDSM record/rare discovery notification
Novice explorer here. EDSM has several records for things like highest/lowest temp stars, largest/smallest worlds, shortest orbit periods, etc, but are there any tools to be run in game to let me see when a record or rare attribute of a celestial body has been found? I could just print out some ranges and check the values as I scan, but the inevitable multitude of mundane planets are going to drive me insane pretty quickly using this method. A tool alerting me when I scan an object would be ideal for me.

I'm pretty sure EDSM only updates once you turn in the data, or you'll have people following you to get their name on these discoveries in game.Once you do turn in, though, probably just have a peek at your EDSM records?
Hmm if that's the only way then I guess that's fine. I would have liked to known when I scan so that I could get some screenshots, but then I guess if its not immediately noticeable that something is out of the ordinary then its not worth setting up a picture. Or maybe I can touch back on it on a future excursion
Dont think that is true. If I scan an undiscovered planet in game, then click on the details in ED Discovery to view it in EDSM - it shows the planet details and first discovered by my CMDR name. This appears to work in realtime, provided ED Discovery is running and you have installed the EDSM API key.
@OP - you can use ED Discovery 3D map to see what interesting features are near your current destination/route.
Huh, righto. Seems abusable, but that would make OP's Record-breaking discovery app possible.
Thanks for the heads up! :)
