Snapshot
Good poems are a snapshot.
It’s framed and has focus,
It has composition and color.
There’s a landscape that can inspire you,
Make you set up and bath in the beauty.
It can come quick on a car ride,
But the flow of traffic is
Too fast for your shutter.
One came to me while I
Was staring into the sun.
I was blinded, so it passed
And I never saw it again.
They never come to me
When I'm sitting down.
They’re probably right outside
My door, wondering why I bother.
You have to be quick,
Sprint to the nearest notepad.
No notepad? Use your phone
No phone? Repeat it outloud.
Can’t bother? Then don’t worry.
You can live without obsession.
Some things are not meant to be
Written down.
