The Calendar
A circumstance more unfavorable Than your dreary reminder To change the calendar you gifted With the little pretending cheer Is rare
Truthfully, I almost changed it a day early at first Wishes only act on the later Though I still do wish I did The sentiment ignites me As much as time on a grid can
By May, something should have sung me Spring melodies Or our sunrise duet of reminder Only somehow I was aware already Endless as you bloomed my wonder The second tallest tree is patient to be closer To you as I was As I can ever be
I would have decided someday I don’t deserve the spot Closest to the sky I tell myself
By September, I knew
The room hates being lived in
But the calendar jumps off the wall now
All I have to remember you by
If only for four cold months
For now I change the calendar
Pretending you see me
Counting the days until I see you again
