you slipped me some honey
reminded me you cared
I gasped deeply for a search
of my spirit, hovering in the air

sometimes in the midst of your concern
I see the hairs tingle up your neck
your fingers jumble endlessly
and you say “I’m a wreck”

your eyes say otherwise
you know i’m aware
of your sorrows, and love
chilling the lovely, blue air

sometimes you sleep there
among dead, red air
state your disgust and dread
proclaim “I don’t care”

but your eyes go green
you send me a stare
still know and claim
“man, I can’t care”

and yet...

the silk of yellow
flows into your hymn
for the deep, lightly spirit
caressing slowly, amongst your skin

you remind yourself of orange
you remind yourself of blue
you soften the forms of light
beautifying your lowly hue

sometimes you hide, uncovered
only subtly aware
of your ever-so-gentle kindness
and deep, green stare
