Reynardine
When mountains are awash in mist,
Young maids, think better of walking.
Among the fires that burn by night,
Old maids oft get to talking.
A tale is told of a demon bold,
His eyes they are bright and haunting.
His hair is wild like the fires of hell,
The mountain he is stalking.
When the moon is high and the faeries fly,
The peaks are all a-glimmer.
When the cold winds blow, few dare to go
For the ‘mount is death in winter.
But amid the pines lies a castle high,
That's alight with eternal summer.
The air is sweet and the waters clear,
Wind gentle as a lover.
Outside the wall the snows may fall,
But the castles grounds are sheltered.
But the warmth within it is fueled by sin,
Halls filled with evil laughter.
So a traveler wise shuns the walls so high,
Of the castle of endless summertime
Oh maids decline, fruit, flower or vine
Beware the castle Reynardine.
