Slipping (Lisa)
Hillside, gnarled oak against setting sun, styrofoam and cardboard tangling, lowest branches kindling. Miniature dark greens fringe, damp leaves, freckled tips of twigs. Mosquitoes zip, hawkish, above our tiny nook. Quick surveyance unveils histories, drifting vagabonds, eyes shifted, plunged forward, cryptic symbols, shadowed pasts, yet to comes. I lay on my back, eyes grazing fields of starlight. You slip away. We were close once. Not now. But what can I do? I wandered the desert, cyclical parallels, life and death. Careless breeds the rot, the filth. Careful blooms the desert rose. Awaken precious stone, unfold.
So you folks may find this interesting! This is what the poem looks like when I put it to song. The chords are B# G F The vocals and melody have kind of an Eddie Vedder vibe. The strum pattern is B# dun-dun-dun G dun-dun-dun F dun-dun-dun dun-dun-dun ! I don't plan on recording but if y'all demand it I reckon I am inclined to oblige.
Hillside
Gnarled oak
Sunset
Styrofoam
Cardboard tangles low
Branches kindling grow
Miniature dark greens fringe
Damp freckled leaves
Tips of twigs
Mosquitos zip
Drone hawkish
Above our tiny nook
Quick surveyance shows
Histories unveil
Vagabonds adrift
Forward eyes that shift
Lunge symbols of the ancient crypt
Shadowed pasts to come
On my back eyes ablaze
Fields of starlight glow
To graze once close you slip away
Through these dunes I roam
Cycle parallels unknown
Life and death the desert flows
Careless breeds the rot the filth
Careful blooms the desert rose
Awaken precious stone unclose
Awaken precious stone unclose
