Self Reflection

As I lay myself down to sleep
Heart heavy, perspective bleak
I contemplate what could have been
Words exchanged, now and then
No longer able to shed a tear
Last to go, any sense of fear


So here I lay, torn, distraught
A victor, who would've thought
For the wars we wage seldom solve
Despite your effort, your resolve
So choose battle wisely, don't forget
Monsters that win, are the ones we let
