An Ode To...A Friend

An ode to your eyes, and the ease
to which they swallowed me.
Each time I fell deep into their jagged granite,
I felt bolder.

An ode to your foot, loose
and hanging from the edge of my bed.
Dancing beneath a blanket of uncounted sheep,
we let go.

An ode to the goosebumps at the nape of your neck and how they stood the same whether it were
ice blue Icelandic ice bath or
my fingers
dripped through your hair.

Okaaaay. Don't distract me.

An ode to your forehead, for I
stood in line while you browsed.
Five times we hashed out your tally mark lies.
Butter-smoth lines.

Almost lover, I don't love you.
Just friends and that's fine.
But one last fallacy weighs on my mind.

An ode to your dic...
-tatorship.
You ruled me.
