Dolled Up Cupcake
A dolled up cupcake left in the rain,
smothered with icing,
pretty again.
True to a rose she calls herself.
Hailed queen of thorns,
by anyone else.
Vie, cry, and die for addiction,
from an ambivalent mass,
stranger than fiction.
Why must you catch their eye?
When it's yours you must win over.
Wandering scorched earth for a clover?
A heathen with a cold shoulder?
A figurehead of fantasy,
and promised reality?
The worthy cause of excitement turned away.
So she settles for today.
