Daydreaming

Heading to the north

with gut-wrenching butterflies

upon arriving to the park

I certainly fell short of the mark.

 

Stairs serve as the peak

of the highest of the mountains

pinpointing a few locations

where our minds travel when mentioned.

 

Standing among the statues

by the few guests behind

surprisingly I came to find

a unique spot in the midst.

 

Broad smiles sealed the pact

yet relatively unknown is the fact

that a coin's been tossed behind my back.

 

Guests play along with the act

by applauding a bit too much

unapologetically long silences set the tone

of a well-placed traffic cone.

 

Shutting off the world around me

I went on with the fun

apparently I was not on the same page

as the actors on the stage.
