Writing your name

Writing and erasing your name on a mirror

Instead of looking at my distressed face

The truth of us has never been clearer

One heart is broken, in this complex case.

My brain is a mess, my heart cracked twice

Your words were both pleasure and pain

I dueled with life and then rolled the dice

For the poor love that I will never gain.

Sometimes you have to burn a few bridges

In order to forget then truly move on

It feels like someone pulled a light switch

When I realized I knew I should be gone.

Don't you look at me with pitying eyes

That is not me, that is all you

All those nights of hopeless sighs

I hate to say this but it was all true.

Everything will return to the same

Except for my agony and disgrace

I know that I have no one to blame

But I still write your name that I will erase.
