That’s your obd2 diagnostic connector isn’t it?

Here’s what I found after a quick search.

Good links. This should point the OP in the right direction.

Factory tow package and nobody can seem to find out what I can hook up to it. I plan on going on a trip next week, but didn't expect finding this part to be so hard to find. Dealership said they can't find any connector/harness nor does gm have an ebc that you can buy from them that has the correct connector. Gmparts website said I'd have to buy it aftermarket as well. And both rv dealers told me that gm didn't change the connector for the 2018s (I had a 2015 traverse with tow package before) which is very wrong.

Please, can anyone give me some help? I don't want to have to cut the tow package connector out to splice an ebc in and risk gm trying to claim some future service issue on it.

Well if you cut off that connector in your picture, yes you will regret it! That's your ODBII diagnostic connector, not the EBC connector. I'd suggest going to a Traverse forum and asking about connecting a brake controller. There may be a connector tucked up under the dash, or some wires pre-installed at the factory. But don't mess with the ODBII connector!

Well than. This is one of those times I wish I was more into working on cars. So when someone tells me what something is I just don't believe them at face value.

Thank you for the help! Now, to find where the actual hookup is.

According to this Q/A there should be a wiring stub behind the kick panel to the left of your feet on the drivers side. This is the same place it was on my GMC Canyon and the Chevy Colorado so it sounds likely.

It'll most likely be just a couple of wires capped off with tape or shrink tube so you'll need to connect those to the cable for your brake controller.

In my Toyota, near the odbii connector was a small plastic miles connector that one hooks the brake controller into. It was just tucked in there. So, no, that isn’t the brake connector, but you could be close.

So I just bought a 17ft passport with my 2015 Traverse. I was dumb founded in the fact that the EBC was not already a part of the package. If you remove the kick guard under your steering column... my connection was tapped to the harness that runs to the OBD that you show in your picture. Be mindful you will need to buy a converter cable to go from 6 pin to 4 pin l connection. Most EBC are a 4 pin connection. I can send pictures of mine when I get home.

Weird. Tekonsha doesn't make an adapter for that vehicle. I bought one that plugged right in under the dash and directly to the controller for my 2003 Yukon. Maybe contact them at www.tekonsha.com
