Episode Rewind Discussion #1 - A New Day (S1E1)

Hey guys! The character discussion threads that I created a few months back sparked a lot of interesting talk so I decided to make a new kind, this time focused on the actual episodes.

Unlike the character discussion threads which were daily for the most part, I will try to spread these discussions out a bit more so they don't cluster this sub so much. I'm hoping to get discussions for all of S1, 400 Days, and S2 before the first episode of TFS is released. Since New Frontier is still fairly recent, I probably won't make discussions on those (or at least not until a long time from now).

So to start off, we'll talk about the very first episode of the first season: A New Day. Use this thread to talk about anything regarding said episode. Some optional questions you can answer:

  • Did you like this episode? How does it compare to the rest of the season?
  • Favorite and least favorite parts of the episode?
  • What would you have changed with this episode?
  • Did you leave Clem's house in the daylight or at night?
  • Did you tell Hershel that you were in a cop car or lie to him?
  • Did you try to save Shawn or Duck?
  • Did you side with Kenny, Larry, or remain neutral over Duck's possible bite?
  • Did you give the motel girl the gun?
  • Did you save Carley or Doug?
  • Regardless of what you originally chose, which choices do you think make for the most interesting story?
  • Three characters from the comics (Shawn, Hershel, and Glenn) appear in this episode. Were you satisfied with their roles or would you have liked to see more/less from them?
  • If you were in Lee's shoes, would you have come clean about your murder conviction to the people in the pharmacy?

Next up will be Starved for Help which I'll post roughly a week from now.
