Turn Timer

Discussion

Just another person complaining that the turn timer is not even close to long enough especially for combo players. Every time i've gotten my infinite combo going (assembler powerstone) literally every opponent has drug out the game waiting till i either attack or have every ballista counter pointed at their face. The reason being from where i'm looking at it is my opponents hope i don't have enough time to combo so they just get the free win i have had 1 game where my attack step was skipped because the combo took too long to setup on that turn because there is a lot of math involved. What i would like to see is mtgo timer brought over because i think it would encourage more concedes when they know they can't win also it might help to adjust animations some way because copying 1 time takes up most of that "extra time" given for actions so what i would like to see is either mtgo timer introduced or the extra time added for actions increased to 10-15 seconds tbh because that might incentives people to concede rather than drag games on when they clearly lost

Seems like complaining is the only way to go on this sub ?

With the same combo, I had no trouble to pull it without using a single timeout. Whenever an ability resolved, I had like 5 seconds added to my timer. I started with 9 lands, 2 stones on the board, one in hand and assembler in hand too. You just came here to complain without even seeing how the current timer was working, don't you find it boring ?

I found it on mtggoldfish is so much fun but it can be a bit stressful comboing off unless you combo with paradox engine but im slowly think this isn't a deck to play on mtg arena sadly just because about 90% of the decks I've played the past day are either a rdw variant or uw control which both are frustrating uw control is easily winnable because a lot of people just don't know what cards to counter so alot of the time I win by sneaking the combo out with planar bridge which btw is a nice addition to the deck if you are missing a few inventors fairs

Edit: I knew how the timer works but the time it takes for the animations actually eats up a lot of the added timer which I did mention and only a hand full of people actually conceded when they noticed I went infinite the other 20+ sat and hoped I timed out which can happen and I did get me attack phase skipped because I wasn't sure if I could combo that turn but it turns out I was able to

Edit2: I would 100% be ok if they only reworked the timer for bo3 formats only though just because I have had a single bo1 game go for over 1hr and if that could happen in bo3 for all 3 games that is absurd

Well first play the deck you enjoy the most, even in the loss. I didn't even know such a deck was on mtggoldfish or anything, i just wanted to play a powerstone shard deck and ended up with the abomination I'm playing, but I enjoy it in the lowest tiers where I lie. You really need to enjoy what you play, and if you need to win sometimes, swap decks.

Try in the future maybe to record your games with this deck to see how the timer is bouncing, and see if sometimes there are bugs or not. You don't really have time to pay attention to it while comboing, so having a video of it to watch peacefully would help.

I haven't had any issues piloting it all I'm trying to do is build awareness that the turn timer still needs a good amount of work because there are some combos that in it's current state would never work on mtg arena because its almost like a race to finishing your combo before you actually run out of time as well it can eat into your timeouts even though you're actively working through your combo
