This is my first time ever posting publicly even thought I've been writing since forever. Please leave your honest feedback it would mean a lot to me..
When you grow up in isolation
When rejection becomes an expectation
You learn to find a home of your own
And if you don't find one, you learn to build one
You build paths from the uncertainty you live in
Walls from the loneliness you drowned in one too many times
You decorate your home with the dreams you were robbed of
And paint your ceiling the colour red;
For the fire that started in your soul when the world did you wrong
For the anger and fury you let eat you up
For the blood you spilled when your heart broke
Stripes of black, for the demons that kept you company at your lowest
And just one small window, guarded by metal rods, at the very top room in your home
Small enough to keep the outside world out
Yet big enough to show you what you could've had
We grow up on the notion that love is some magical tale
That it's something we'll all have someday
And when we do, it's gonna heal all our wounds
But we quickly learn otherwise, at least the unfortunate ones of us.
Love is not for everyone
Maybe someday you'll die and they'll cry over you for a day or 2
And just like that you'll seize to be a person and rather become a memory
A figment of one's imagination
Who's to say you ever existed, when you didn't leave your print on the world?
That same love they tell us about
Is the culprit for the cracks on the walls of our homes
Yet we still crave it
And soon when realisation dawns on us
We did not put that window to see the outside world,
We put it in hope love would catch a glimpse of us through
And finally decide we're worth saving..
