MY HEART THE CHILD
MY HEART THE CHILD
My heart the child,
petulant and demanding,
alive of the danger and pain,
but defiantly wild.
I’m a slave to each tantrum;
subdued and controlled
by the beating thunder of the pulse—
a never-ending anthem.
When will it turn wise?
Harden and mature,
Trade passion for comfort?
A fatal compromise.
