Birdman
I walk the path alone at night
On my way to meet a girl
Dark and dim an unlit path,
Devoid of life, an empty world
It stretches long and long as I tread onward.
The path speaks softly via wind,
A haggard lady to me she whispers:
My earthly sins to now rescind
A noose hangs wry upon a tree
New shadows looming, the road now thin
The bird man rises
And my heart yet quickens
His eyes molten, glowing, red
Silent. staring. the night is dead...
Still he stands the bird man stares.
I look away and don’t see him leave
Further along the darkened path, I walk
Knowing now what is to come
And fearful yet I wonder now
Will a condemned man reach her hallowed grounds?
