Warning to newbies:Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin are different
There are some trolls here posting that we're trying to "trick" people into thinking Bitcoin Cash is the real Bitcoin. We're all scammers, right? OK. Here's the truth.
- Bitcoin split into two coins, Bitcoin Core (BTC) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
- The BTC team fundamentally altered Bitcoin as defined in the whitepaper and as understood by the original community
- The BTC team accomplished this alteration through extreme censorship in which the original community was shadow banned and pushed out from r/bitcoin, Bitcoin Talk, and the other primary discussion groups, led primarily by a single moderator with more-or-less absolute power named u/Theymos (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1182118.0)
- The BTC team's primary alteration has been two-fold: the artificial limitation of Bitcoin's transaction throughput, and the addition of a technology called Segregated Witness, "consensus" for which was fraudulently obtained through said community manipulation
- The BTC team's motive for this alteration is, among other reasons, to make the products sold by a company called Blockstream necessary for Bitcoin to function (specifically, something called a Lightning Network: https://blockstream.com/technology/)
- Today, the main forum of BTC is, confusingly, r/bitcoin
- Today, the main forum of BCH is, confusingly, r/btc
- If you want Bitcoin as currently defined by market capitalization, then you want BTC. We expect this will change in the future since merchants are dropping BTC and onboarding BCH. However, if you think this is a guaranteed outcome, you're foolish.
- If you want Bitcoin as defined by the people who created it, then you want BCH.
- When we say "Bitcoin Cash is Bitcoin", we're not trying to "scam you". We're making a reference to this history.
- In fact, we would argue that the manipulative censorship on most other Bitcoin discussion forms is the scam. Shouldn't you be aware of all versions of Bitcoin before you decide what if anything to invest in?
- You may not believe these claims if you're new and that's OK. But here's one thing to think about: if this were posted in r/bitcoin, it would be instantly removed and the author banned. Don't believe me? Try it.
