What is wrong with 2 mages?

Please explain to me the validity of these statements from players

"No 2 mages" - "Trolls" - "Report"

What is this community endorsing with this behavior? The META is a guide. Those who lack control of the characters in the META are a burden to the team when they try to play and feed, just for the sake of fitting into "the mold". I feel the players in this game are stuck to certain traditions and shun or shame people who attempt something different. Sure if you are Conqueror or Diamond I might understand your frustration and dedication to the META, but please sit back down in your seats Golds and Platinums and don't fail at your character, then come for me. Why can we not celebrate differences? What is wrong with two mages, and I include ALL mages, including the assassins.
