doxylamine succinate for occasional anxiety?

I don't have an anxiety disorder. However, in certain situations I get very anxious and nervous. I have an upcoming singing audition and I need to be calm as possible for it. Would sleeping drugs like benadryl or doxylamine succinate work well as a quick fix? The drowsiness might affect my performance but I would rather be tired than overly stressed out.
