Using meditation to deal with gender dysphoria depression...
Hi all,
I've had gender dysphoria and depression for quite some time now. Lately, I've been using meditation to heal my inner pain and it's been working wonders! I'm starting to glimpse this sense that every situation, no matter how unpleasant, is totally workable. There is always a place to start, in regards to compassion and mindfulness. I should note that this isn't a path toward repression - rather, I've been meditating to understand my pain more, which naturally includes dysphoria. The Headspace app is a really wonderful tool that I highly recommend to anyone who is struggling.
Ten-day meditation retreats are intense, but they can really re-illuminate the mind's sense of basic sanity, compassion, and mental clarity and get one on the path to learn more about not only their dysphoria, but other dimensions of depression. I feel just as much like me, as you feel like you. So we're all in it together, really. So with that said, I sincerely hope that whoever is reading this - if you suffer from depression, like me - I hope that you can summon the mental energy to seek out places that will help you heal. Whether they're therapists, friends, spiritual teachers, or simply remembering to go on walks in your local forest - I hope you can gather the courage to explore your pain, to learn from it, and find people who are further along on this path of self love and self appreciation.
