Campbellton Mesh Network Project 2018 (Updated)
**Introduction**
Although project is in infancy stage testing will be conducted this summer to determine what hardware will be used and their limitations. The testing grounds for the new network will have various services setup internally and although a gateway to the actual internet wont exist for some time but is something that will be looked into as the network progresses.

**What is a [meshnetwork](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVpaYrNc3NU)?**
A mesh network is a network topology in which each node relays data for the network. All mesh nodes cooperate in the distribution of data in the network. ... Thus, wireless mesh networks are closely related to mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). - [wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mesh_networking)
**How can you get involved?**
We will need the following types of people:
**Node Hosts** - People who run small network nodes in their house, nodes can eventually be upgraded and attached to servers to host additional services. With time node hosts will receive incentives for having a node but also moreso when there is servers and services attached to their nodes.
**Moderators** - This network will have internal services that need to be moderated like any online community.
**Software developers and Techs** - There will always be a demand for more techies to get involved. Experience in network architecture and linux is an asset for sure.
**Ham Radio Operators** - Using this wifi technology does require a bit of know how when it comes to transmitting and receiving data over the airwaves. Techies and Ham Radio operators in this project would share a strong common ground and both can learn from one another in that sense.
**Security Issues and Consideratons**
There will be security issues that will come up and the idea is to resolve or fix them before they are even noticed. How IP addresses are assigned, how clients communicate with clients, DNS related issues are only a few on the table which are currently being explored. The idea is to provide users with a safe environment without any need for client side modifications.
