Unpopular opinion: I like runepass
There are a couple things I would change about it, but overall I like the concept of it. I would remove the ability to buy tiers (make it more about actually doing the tasks), and shorten the paths some. I’d put all the rewards on the free path, not have a gold path, and just have the purchase of runepass give you the extra tasks to speed up the path progression (or alternatively, have everything except lamps/stars on free path). Some rewards would have to be shuffled around, for example a legendary pet shouldn’t be at tier 1 on the free path - it would be nearer to the end, and might only be a follower pet instead.
The free path’s daily xp task is nice, it lets you choose what you want to do as long as you’re gaining xp, but the rate at which it increases is crazy. It jumps from 10k, to 100k, to 250k, to 1m, and then 5m xp. That’s just a bit ridiculous to expect people to get 6360k xp every day to take full advantage of it. It would be much better if it awarded a single starfish at the same interval (maybe every 100k, which would mean 1500k xp to get the same amount of starfish as the current system, and without a cap so you could keep gaining more if you want in the same day which means you can freely take days off from rs).
Sure the tasks add to dailyscape, but if you only consider the free tasks, you have one weekly, and a general xp daily. The only tasks you have to go out of your way to do are the runepass ones, which you paid for the ability to get&do those tasks (to speed up progression), and so far from the ones I’ve had, none of them really take any time at all - cook one inventory of food, for example, that takes all of 30s, or pickpocket 50 times, a bit longer, but hardly more than a couple minutes especially with the camo outfit.
The only big issues for me with runepass is that there’s hardly anything on the free path, the general xp daily for the free path needs too much xp each day (and it caps), and the ability to just outright buy progress without doing any tasks. However, overall with some tweaking I like it, especially if it will be used to replace treasure hunter (which means at the very least, they’d add more stuff to the free path in that case).
