Why is trash talk punished so severely in league of legends? No other notable game does this.
Is there a reason trash talk/flaming is so heavily punished in this game? I have never seen another game where players actively type "report" like it's some sort of threat when someone talks trash/flames. I am not talking like the n-word or real life threats.
And to top it all off..... there's the ability to mute other players. So, when a butt hurt feeding top laner threatens to report his team for "flaming" him because he's not bright enough to simply mute the mean, angry people, doesn't this seem a bit ridiculous that something could actually come of it? I think I speak for a lot of players when I say I enjoy a little trash talk/flaming every now and again. It's a shame that Riot has put so much effort into policing what people say in a competitive video game (beyond racist, homophobic, threats, etc.).
going to bed all - enjoyed this discussion.
