Vasectomy day today
Long time lurker here, but I just wanted to give a big shout out to this sub for the support and piece of mind it has provided me, allowing me to step up and make this choice. You're all wonderful people :)
I will be admitted at a NHS hospital in London today, and before this evening is over I will have had a (hopefully) successful vasectomy done. I'm pretty nervous, as I've been told I'll be going under general anaesthetic, and from what I've understood about this procedure, it is normally done local anaesthetic.. But hey ho, might be better this way!
I am very much looking forward to this being over and done with so that I can lead a childfree life!
Edit: I've woken up from my anesthetic-induced sleep and have been told the procedure was a success and that there were no issues. I feel no pain at all, but they've told me that ive been administer local anaesthetic in the area and that it will wear off in about 12 hours.. So I'll see what's up at that point :P
Woohoo! Its now done and dusted. Finally I can love the rest of life without worry, I am so relieved. For anyone else anxious about getting the snip, just go for it (provided you're 100% sure about it)! The worst part, at least so far was them putting a needle into my hand, but thats only because I dislike needles in the first place. Fighting the general anaesthetic was actually kinda fun, but good god is that stuff powerful, knocked me the hell out. I'm now eating complimentary hospital food and awaiting for the nurse to discharge me.
Thanks once again for everyone's kind posts and input, really helped me calm my nerves.
