[SharePoint 2007] How to set default master page for migrated site?

Hi all,

First post in this Reddit channel. So in a nutshell a new SP2007 farm was setup and the DB contents from a farm migrated via Double Take due to a domain migration. All farm solutions replicated without issues from old farm to new farm, web apps and Shared Services setup as per old farm.

No issues on new farm other than the two items below:

1. New sites default to SP2007 page defaults which is fixed by enabling Office SharePoint Server Publishing Feature, copy of master page to Master Page Gallery, and eventual application on site collection.

2. New PERSONAL sites for users also revert to SP2007 page defaults,

Is there a way to apply default master pages for this new farm setup? I have been reading and it involves SharePoint Designer? Thanks.
