ASUS Sonic Suite?
Hi,
I need a little advice. Some time ago I had trouble with sound (horrible crackling) when I had my headphones in the headphones port. I reinstalled the drivers for the soundcard, a simple realtek HD audio or whatever it's called, and that fixed it for a time. It also uses the Sonic Studio thing for equalizing, it came with the ASUS motherboard. The sound trouble came back one day, so I went through the reinstalling again, but since then everytime on the startup an UAC prompt pops up asking me whether to allow Sonic Studio to "make changes", or basically whether I allow it to run at all. And one day not even the reinstalling helped, so I plugged the headphones in the speakers port and it's been fine since then.
However, I found out that sonic studio's been messing with my games and maybe streamed video. Everything usually runs but streaming video gets increased lags, and some particular old games can't seem to handle it at all and won't even run. I disabled the sonic studio to try it out and indeed a game that froze up before suddenly ran. (another thing is that the game ran the first time but after restarting the computer it did not, I mean with the sonic studio up and running, so maybe it gets added to a sonic studio "database" or something because of sound profiles or whatever and once the game's in it it falls under the full influence of sonic studio? :D Sounds silly but reinstalling the game does not help, so either something about it gets saved somewhere or I seriously have no idea how the sonic studio messes with the game everytime but the first time)
So my questions are: Is the sonic studio broken somehow and how do I reinstall it or something? (because of the weird prompt etc.) Do I need to reinstall the drivers for the soundcard too? And also is the Sonic Studio necessary or can I maybe get some other software to do the same thing? It does the equalizing and the sound without it is really shitty.
I don't know anything about how these things work and I don't want to mess my stuff up even more, but I'd like to have a decent sound and to have all of my games running, even the old ones that apparently are being messed with by the sonic studio.
Pls help.
