I got the dreaded “©️”, how should I handle it?
Hello all, I run a very small (<100 subs) album review / music discussion channel. I’m just starting out and only have 4 videos. My fifth is scheduled to upload tomorrow, I may have bit off a little more than I can chew by choosing to review Drake’s newest album “Scorpion”, which was released under the label “Young Money” which is owned by UMG. My typical review formula is:
- Intro clip (face cam)
- Backstory of my history with the artist (usually done with me talking over a music video, with the music being almost non existent and images placed over the video when necessary)
- More facecam
- More backstory (different music video)
- The actual review of the album
In this video I used 3 songs and only one was claimed. I’ve done this with a few acts, State Champs, Panic! At the Disco, XXXtentacion, but this is the first time I’ve come across the “©️” and I’m not sure what to do, I’m making 0 money off this video, and I understand that what I’m doing is at least semi transformative. So what should I do from here? Should I ignore it? Should I file a dispute? Should I pitch up the audio slightly? I don’t know what to do.
