[IDEA] Why doesn’t Adam Silver institute rules for All Stars to be ineligible for MLE, Vet Min and have higher salary floors that mandatorily count against the cap?
WE GOT FUCKING LEBRON WOO!!!!!
I posted this is r/NBA, but I appreciate our sub a ton and wanted your opinions.
I’m not here to complain about the warriors, I’ve been doing that since KD took the hardest road. Since then, I’ve exclusively watched Laker games with the occasional TNT match up. Honestly, I know we just signed Lebron but I’d probably still watch if we had 12 Kendall Marshall clones and a Sasha Vujacic.
However, the lack of parity is getting embarrassing, and the salary cap is meant to directly counteract that. Could Adam Silver institute a rule that former All Stars are entitled to higher salary floors (and possibly higher maxes), thus making them ineligible for MLE and Vet Min?
Another idea here is if teams could place that minimum on a player and make them enter free agency with a contingency that the team they pick has to pay them whatever that floor is. If the market isn’t there and the team doesn’t want to retain said player for the floor, they can release those rights?
Are there any measures you’d like to see to prevent the formation of future super teams and imbalance in the league?
PS. Fuck the Celtics
