Proxy with static IP address, good practice or?

Hi,

I would like to improve security and restrict connections to some of my servers. My idea is to purchase proxy with static IP and allow connections via that IP address. I don't have static IP at home, some other palces etc.

For example, I would like to allow database access (needed for backup and db admin access) only via that IP (password is still needed)

Is that smart thing to do? If it is, can you suggest any reliable proxy services ?
