PAM on the waffle iron?

If you work where i work you probably know who i am lol

I work the night shift and dont really have anyone to ask this besides reddit, so any insight of any kind is appreciated.

We serve waffles here. We have 2 waffle irons. I only ever use one of them. You have to either put pam or melted butter on the waffle iron or else the waffle will stick when you open it, shredding the waffle.

I always use pam. They say pam ruins the waffle iron, and that i should use melted butter instead. They recently got mad at me (again) for using pam, because they had to "replace the waffle iron because i keep spraying it with pam, so the waffles always stick."

The waffle iron they replaced was the one i never use. Maybe im stubborn, and they are correct but Im missing a vital piece of information? Maybe the butter ends up burning because its never wiped off the waffle iron, causing them to stick in the first place? Maybe its the new "cheddar infused waffle" so when they put cheese in the waffle iron, it causes issues? (I started working here about the same time the "cheddar infused waffles" were put on the menu.)

Ive never had to put any kind of oil or anything on the waffle irons at any of the other places ive worked. Anybody wanna drop some knowledge on me?
