Would it make sense to use Elemental Storm for a crowd, and Meteor for a single target?

I'm playing a magicka sorcerer and the E. Storm from the staff and the Meteor from the Mage's Guild seem amazing. But I'm not when it would be best to use either.

I see it suggested to take Overload, and I have it, but I don't really think it's as cool as ES or M.
