Glitter hair tips?

Hello all,

• Has anyone ever tried glitter hair?
• What does it look like in real life? The images I see online look a bit like someone just put glitter glue in their hair, and if even photoshop can't save it maybe irl it looks even more gnarly?
• I've found a couple of tutorials showing you how to mix craft glitter with hair gel. Does this actually work...?
• Any recommended brands (I am in the UK)?

I'm thinking of doing chunky gold glitter along the roots, and then a fine mist of glitter on top of the head - probably on natural hair, although maybe a wig if I can get one in time.
