Unpopular opinion: I'd rather the MCU movies and Netflix shows remain seperate

Discussion

First off, the shows started off strong with Daredevil and Jessica Jones, but they've took such a nosedive in quality since then:

  • Luke Cage Season 1 started off solid, but the second half was absolute garbage.
  • Iron Fist was awful. I don't get why anyone would want a miscast Danny Rand in the MCU, especially when Disney has a track record for perfect casting.
  • The Defenders was forgettable.
  • Jessica Jones Season 2 wasn't bad, just boring and padded out. I couldn't bring myself to finish it.
  • The Punisher barely had any punishing in it.
  • Luke Cage Season 2 started off fine as well, but it was too overlong and I felt the character changes in the last episode didn't feel earned at all.

Second, general audiences would be so confused if The Defenders showed up all of a sudden in the MCU.

Thirdly, the reason the MCU has been such a huge success is because of Fiege's vision. Sure, he's made a couple of mistakes here and there, but the reason the MCU still prospers inspite of these missteps is because Fiege makes it work. The universe is meticulously built, and there's the reason Kevin Fiege likes having a fresh start when be brings characters into the MCU.

There is a reason Fiege established a new Spider-Man as opposed to bringing in Garfield's Spider-Man and trying to make it work within the canon the MCU has built (which is essentially what people want to be done with the Netflix shows). There's a reason Fiege will likely recast the X-Men when/if they are brought into the MCU. Sure, most of the Defenders are great in their roles, but so are Fassbender and McAvoy, but I'm sure most of us can still agree the best decision for the MCU would be to establish their own X-Men as opposed to taking the current X-Men and trying to merge it into the MCU. I don't see how it's any different for the Defenders. Sure, it'd be cool to see these characters in the MCU, but I'd much prefer that Fiege introduce a new version of them instead of taking the fractured foundation of the Netflix shows and trying to make it work.

What do you think?
