Prisoner
My selfishness dilutes me.
If I'm feeling this way,
a free man,
I cannot imagine what lurks in you,
a prisoner.
What keeps me up at night,
haunts me throughout the day,
must bring tears to your eyes,
you will not escape.
I'd bend the bars,
but you hold the key.
It's easier for you,
than it is for me.
You're institutional,
familiar with the routine,
you flirt with change,
yet walk the same beam.
A part of me is lost,
trapped in your eyes,
which scream for help,
a familiar surprise.
